The Week In
Consumption
Music
I kept coming back to the Nick Cave live album. If you, loyal reader, have not listened to Mr. Cave in a while, go back in. Particularly Wild God and Conversion. I also listened to quite a lot of Close to the Edge by Yes, which I liked a lot. It’s loose and fun, and only has three tracks, the shortest of which is almost nine minutes long.
Books
Still The Mill on the Floss. Things not going well for the Tulliver family, as we go through Book the Fourth: The Valley of Humiliation. Looks like they’re going to lose the mill, and where will the book title be then, eh?
Movies
I did not watch a single movie this week. Bad me.
TV
Finished Stranger Things. I didn’t fully need a weepy 45 minute epilogue even though nobody died, but the final battle was pretty good. I fully accept the criticisms that there are way too many characters and the scale has gone from “a boy is missing” to “an alternative dimension is going to crash into ours and destroy the world” but it’s a good time. They all look very old though, and the occasional flashback does not help.
Production
Running
Still treadmill season. I did a half marathon there yesterday morning before going out for ramen lunch. Possibly my longest treadmill run ever? The trick is to go fast so it’s done with sooner.
Writing
I did in fact write something this week, leaving me one in the bag after tomorrow. Tomorrow’s is pretty good though.
